Warhammer RPG Weekly: The Old World Bundle Giveaway
Plus: the SITREP gets a glow-up!
So big news this week, as I’ve rechristened the Substack to better reflect what I’m looking to build. You can find the full story here, but the TLDR version is that two months ago, I started it up as a home for my Black Library Weekly column over on Tabletop Battles (formerly Goonhammer), where I continue to serve as a reviewer.
As I’ve continued to expand my Warhammer RPG content, The Black Library Dispatch became less of a fit. Voila, it’s now the Warhammer Wordforge! I’ve also rechristened this column to the Warhammer RPG Weekly (formerly Warhammer RPG SITREP). Simpler, cleaner, clearer.
With the site’s new, clear distinction between Black Library and RPG content- and the ability for Subscribers to tailor what they get in their inbox- this is also the first RPG weekly that is being sent out in email format as well as published here.
In celebration, I’ll be giving one lucky reader a Warhammer: The Old World RPG bundle, including the Player’s Guide, Gamemaster’s Guide, and Character Sheet Pad.
But first, a quick word from our sponsor!
Subscriptions, Newsletters, and Emails
Oh right, that’s me. I’m the sponsor.
So before we do the giveaway, I want to quickly point out that Substack allows subscribers to tailor the content they want to see sent to their inbox each week. As someone whose email is inundated with junk, I want to make sure I’m not doing the same to you!
The Warhammer Wordforge has two sections, Black Library and RPG. I’m only going to be emailing 1-2 times a week for each (mainly the weekly columns, Black Library Weekly and Warhammer RPG Weekly), and if you’re only into one of these two things then you can turn off the email from the other quite easily. I show you how (with screenshots) here.
Alright, now back to our regularly scheduled programming!
The Old World Bundle Giveaway
I noted a few weeks ago that Cubicle 7’s fulfillment department had a little hiccup, with some customers receiving twice as much as they ordered. I was one of these fortunate few, if you will, and that gives me the perfect opportunity to pay some of this good luck forward1.
So here it is! I’ve got a brand-new copy of the Player’s Guide, Gamemaster’s Guide, and Character Sheet Pad for Warhammer: The Old World to give away- everything you need to get started!
To enter, I’ll keep it simple:
Be a subscriber to the Warhammer Wordforge, and
Leave a comment below letting me know what your favorite Warhammer RPG system (and/or edition) is, and why!
That’s it, it’s that easy. I’ll pick one at random from all comments entered by this coming Thursday (6/19), and a winner is you! I’ll ship at my cost, and since our community is truly global I’ll accept entries from folks from anywhere.
Voll Adventures Releases
We can cross another one off the release map below, as Voll Adventures made its way into the physical world this week. This latest sourcebook/adventure supplement for Imperium Maledictum contains information about the planet Voll as well as five standalone adventures for GM’s to offer their players.
Voll Primer: An introduction to the world of Voll, its people, hazards, cultures and hive cities.
The Eye of Voll: Chase down a rogue cult leader across Voll’s industrial wastes, competing with other hunting parties and against the world’s hazards.
Illicit Fabrications: A cataclysm has raised Manufactorum Vitus-II to the ground; a Tech-Priest has disappeared, and mutants have been spotted in the surrounding area.
Implacable: On the eve of Halion’s Triumph, death rates spike in Hive Rokarth — too much for mere coincidence, as rumours swirl of a local cult on the rise.
Interminable Devotion: A Capitol Imperialis rolls across the acid wastes. Answer its S.O.S call, solve the captain’s murder, and confront Voll’s mysteries.
Paradigm Shift: A declining manufactorum has shuttered its doors without explanation. The highborn overseer needs a team to investigate and discover what happened.
Given Imperium Maledictum’s comparatively narrower offerings profile compared to Wrath & Glory, this is a welcome addition.
ICYMI
Want to get a look at what you could be winning this week? Jeff McAleer of The Gaming Gang did a review of the Player’s Guide for Warhammer: The Old World. Jeff is clearly held in some esteem by Cubicle 7 Games, as the advance reviewer copy they provided him was a Collector’s Edition!
Careless Conjuration took a look at Slaughter in Spittlefield, an adventure “dripping in Old World black humour” that was part of WFRP’s Ubersreik Adventures from 2019.
Tributes to John Blanche continued to pour in to mark his passing. Of note were ones from It Always Rains in Nuln and Ill Met by Morrslieb. I also came across this terrific interview with Sean Äaberg.
Not directly Warhammer-related but an interesting take on RPG’s I read this week is this piece from Mage Advice on using combat roles for monsters to help guide your combats.
Finally, there was a terrific discussion on Reddit this week about the best adventures for beginners to WFRP 4e. Always great when the community helps those getting started!
Coming Attractions
Here’s a list of the known upcoming releases from Cubicle 7 based on the available preorder information we have. Note that Cubicle 7’s own delivery estimates appear to be just that- estimates- which is why many products have an upcoming delivery listed for Q1 while we’re already into Q2.
This section will be updated weekly in this column, with new or updated info presented in boldface.
To make this section more useful, starting this week I’ll be breaking them out by game.

Thanks for reading, and see you next week!
I do want to note that I recognize in this case that my good fortune doesn’t exist in a vacuum, but rather is offset by Cubicle 7’s loss of product. I genuinely care about the welfare of companies that make the things I enjoy, so I notified them immediately of the issue and gave them the opportunity to reclaim the extras. I also offered to use them in a giveaway to help promote the game, giving them at least some return in goodwill.

4th edition is my current favorite but is only slightly beating 2nd edition.
My longest campaign was in 2nd edition as GM. What do you get when you have a zealot, a halfling barber-surgeon, a dwarf coachman, an elf thief, and a marine?
1st edition will always have a special place too since it the first version as a player.
I would definitely say my favourite is first ed WFRP simply because I am a creature of nostalgia, and I love anything embodies that late 80s, early 90s feel.
