Founded in 2001 by Russ Morrissey of EN World, the ENNIEs are considered one of the role-playing world’s most prestigious honors. While both Morrissey and EN World are no longer a part, they continue to recognize excellence in the RPG industry.
It’s an interesting process that combines both expert judging as well as democratic voting. The panel of judges are elected by the voting public, and then serve to deliver a shortlist of finalists for each award. That goes back in front of the public for final voting, with the winners being announced at that year’s GEN CON.
Cubicle 7’s Warhammer: The Old World Player’s Guide won Best Layout & Design Gold this week, the thirteenth ENNIE in the company’s history. Previous Warhammer-related awards include a 2024 Silver for Best Monster/Adversary for Warhammer 40,000 Wrath & Glory’s Threat Assessment Xenos and another Silver in 2023 for Best Production Values for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay’s The Enemy Within - Empire in Ruins Collector's Edition.

A fairly static week overall saw the same seven books hanging on in the top 200. While they may have lost a little ground overall, that’s typically natural as the earlier adopters have already snatched up their copies. Even with some of the criticism around Sylvania: The Cursed County that we touched on last week, it still remains a top-5 title on DriveThruRPG.

Careless Conjuration continued its series The GM’s Guide to The Enemy Within, bringing things to their final, epic conclusion this week.
Abe Apfel of Bell of Lost Souls talked about five lore changes that have caught his eye this week in the new Warhammer: The Old World rulebook. While he’s talking about the tabletop wargame here, they do have some potential RPG inplications.
Also at GEN CON, Cubicle 7 held a seminar on Sunday dedicated to a discussion around 40 years of WFRP. While I haven’t seen the recording of it yet, u/The_New_Doctor took notes!
Finally, I missed linking this in last week, but there was an interesting featurette on the Cubicle 7 blog about the cover design of Sylvania: The Cursed County. It’s not often artists get to step out onstage and talk about the work they contribute, so it’s always welcome when they do!
