Warhammer RPG SITREP: Saying Hello to Talagaad...
...and farewell to the legendary John Blanche
We have a cover!
Cubicle 7 Games this week released the cover art for its upcoming Warhammer: The Old World release, Talagaad Adventures1.
The action-packed cover art depicts the dramatic Siege of Klepzig, highlighting the brutal clash between the local defenders and an invading horde of Orcs and Goblins. Players will be plunged into a high-stakes scenario within the besieged, walled village, where they must navigate internal rivalries even as the external threat looms large. The towering walls offer scant protection as the relentless tide of Orcs and Goblins prepares to breach the defenses, perfectly setting the stage for the chaos and drama your group will face.
An adventure anthology, Talagaad Adventures contains “a series of standalone stories set in and around Talagaad that can slot seamlessly into any ongoing campaign in the area.” These are2:
Something Fishy: The assassination of a town crier entangles the characters in Talagaad’s criminal underworld, where they must contend with street gangs, scheming merchants, and the crushing boot of the Talabec State Army.
The Hungry Towers: The characters intervene in a border dispute between two rival nobles, whose vassals starve as the tension escalates.
Oars in the Water: The characters are sent to help a merchant trader escape upriver, as she is pursued by Sigmarite pirates.
If the Leaves are Green: A Taalite midseason ritual gives way to horror when the festival is attacked by Beastmen, who drag the celebrants off screaming into the woods.
The Siege of Klepzig: The characters are caught between rival factions inside a walled village that will soon be subjected to an Orc and Goblin assault.
Requiescat in Pace
Warhammer lost one of its most visionary lights this week in the person of John Blanche. I’ll be paying full respects to John’s incredible contribution to this extraordinary universe he helped build with this Monday’s Black Library Weekly3, but here’s a lovely tribute from Tabletop Battles.
Community Creativity
As much as I enjoy stringing words together, now and again I wish I’d instead been born with the talent for visualizing the imagination- and this is certainly one of those. This week’s visual treat comes by way of u/ConflictBetter1332, who shared this amazing private commission he did for a client. If you’re interested in an HD file of it, that’s available too! ConflictBetter1332 also shared that it’s their two-year anniversary of working for Games Workshop and Cubicle 7, ringing it in by sharing the first-ever map they created for the world. Happy anniversary to you both!
u/Taryf’s talents seem to be of the stringing-words-together variety, except theirs is code. Taryf shared a toolkit they’d built for Wrath & Glory this week, from a themed player/GM message-sharing console to facilitate communication (while deepening immersion) to a dice-roller, a soundboard skeleton to NPC and name generators. Wow!
Speaking of dice-rollers, u/GrimDragonStudio made one specifically for Warhammer: The Old World. It doesn’t just roll dice, but has probability indicators that can take into account tests both grim and glorious! GrimDragonStudios also made a searchable adventure index for WFRP and TOW, an ambitious and intriguing project that will also allow players to give ratings to the different adventures they’ve experienced. Make sure to stop on by and leave a few ratings if you can!
Finally, u/FaallenOon shared a few tools they’d made for Age of Sigmar: Soulbound, including a relic generator, an encounter generator, and a browsable equipment list.
ICYMI
Ill Met by Morrslieb had a terrific piece this week on adapting WFRP for romantic fantasy. “Romantic fantasy,” Zekiel defines, “suggests that victory can come through more traditionally feminine traits of compassion and relationship-building.4”
Happy belated birthday to WFRP fansite Kalevala Hammer, ringing in 19 years of passionate exploration of Warhammer role-play. Now that is some accomplishment!
Coming Attractions
Here’s a list of the known upcoming releases from Cubicle 7 based on the available preorder information we have. Note that Cubicle 7’s own delivery estimates appear to be just that- estimates- which is why many products have an upcoming delivery listed for Q1 while we’re already into Q2.
This section will be updated weekly in this column, with new or updated info presented in boldface.
To make this section more useful, starting this week I’ll be breaking them out by game.

Thanks for reading, and see you next week!
I’m a bit time-limited today, typing this week’s SITREP from the waiting room of MD Anderson in between my wife’s appointments.
Because Ill Met footnoted this line to include a caveat, I feel it’s only fair to quote that here as well: “Just to be clear, I don’t actually go in for gender essentialism and Defined Gender Roles, I’m just using this a shorthand because this is how Western culture generally characterises these qualities.”
