3) One of the people in the survey talked about the lack of creativity of the cover arts and I went on a rant about this to one of the active members in the black library subreddit in their dm. So many of the current books in the warhammer website is just "main character looking at the reader or looking behind them" covers used to be so much more then that.
Look at Jon Sullivans art for example for the Space Marine Battles series of novels, just go onto the lexicanum page and click on a random novel, they all (i think it's all but majority at least) have the full image on the books dedicated page. You see so much detail Jon Sullivan put into. Like yeah there's some art where main character is right on the screen or a marine is staring at the reader but when you see the expanded image it's so good.
We don't get that anymore. And it's sad. Recently the only novel that comes to mind that broke this rule is, Hive. And it's beautiful looking at the cover art of Hive that I can't really put into words on why.

I was equally frustrated with the guessing game of "what's in the Witch Hunters omnibus", knowing that half of the material I've hunted down (and I really dislike the word "hunt"...) previously and the other half (the Richard Strachan, Ven Denst tales, hopefully complete) are going into printed publishing oblivion a few months after the omnibus' release.
Loved Jon Sullivan's wraparound covers on the SMB series. The artbook dedicated on the series was great and a testament of fully digital artwork that you didn't have to worry if it's A.I. generated. Also the interior art of Space Marine Battles (the schematics, really) were really engaging. Trully, most covers feel like they need to "engage with the potential byer of the plastic model" before they deliver a good story.
The "Hive" cover was great, mainly because it couldn't sell a model on the cover so, it was pure 40K decadent ambience, mostly seen on codexes' (or geme-boxes) covers these days.
Naturally I pre-ordered the Witch Hunters Omnibus, but, mostly because I'm afraid the Ven Denst stories (two novels and three shorts) won't be available in the future. I'm not sure if Richard Strachan will write more stories with the father-daughter duo.
Which ties in with Nick Horth's characters (Callis & Toll) that fill the rest of this omnibus. I recently bought, read and enjoyed the David Annandale novel with this duo (simply titled Callis & Toll). Thankfully, I tracked all the Nick Horth material concerning the characters and their spin-off, supporting cast in the "Warriors of the Freeguild Omnibus". Only to find that the anthology "On the Shoulders of Giants" contains a Nick Horth story connected to one of the "side" characters. I'm really curious what Nick Horth material will be included in this upcoming omnibus. First world problems, I know, but given the recent "Where's AoS fiction going", well, it feels a bit... random (editorial-wise).

So much good stuff here. I’m a 40k enthusiast but nobody to play with! I’ve read a few books and I’m 7 audiobooks into Horus Heresy
